Yves Terracol, the new Regional Director of the AFD in Nairobi visited Kampala from 19 to 21 October 2010.
This visit was the opportunity to present the regional regional outlook of AFD to Mrs Aline Kuster-Menager, Ambassador of France in Uganda, and to thank the authorities and local partners for their warm welcome in the three areas of concentration of ’AFD Uganda: water and sanitation, energy and private sector.

M. Terracol was accompanied by Monkam-Daverat and Magloire Kindoki, Both AFD Desk Officers for Dar es Salaam and Kampala respectively.
Since 2009, AFD has strengthened its partnerships with both public and private entities, which permitted the agency to experience strong growth and making part of of the major development agencies in Uganda unavoidable.
In this context, Ambassador Kuster-Ménager and AFD team met the Minister of Water and Environment, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, and visited projects financed by AFD in Jinja (Bujagali dam and water intake NWSC).
In the merge of the visit, meetings with partners and private donors were organised and several avenues of strengthening cooperation evoked.

Consequently, the Ambassador hosted an informal lunch at her residence, and among those present were : the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, the Minister of State for Mineral Development, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Water and Environment, two directors of the team of NSWS (Planning and Finance) and General Manager of Total Exploration.
This encounter greatly helped to strengthen ties between the Ministry of Energy and Total which was invited for the occasion.
