The summer of festivals has begun in France and this until the end of September. Music, theater, dance, gastronomy, as many fields celebrated each year. In total, in three months, almost a hundred festivals will be taking place in the hexagon.

- Festival de Rock-en-Seine à Paris
A profusion of music festivals
From classic music to rock n’ roll, going through jazz and electro, every music types are represented, performed by French artists, as well as artists coming from all over the world.
About rock, the most famous and important festival is Rock en Seine, unfolding each year in Paris during the last weekend of august. With thousands of participants and legends of the rock stage, Rock en Seine is, for rock n’ roll fans, the festival not to miss. It will welcome this year in particular the famous artists The Offsprings, Kasabian, Fauve and Franz Ferdinand. Another unavoidable festival is Les Vieilles Charrues. Less important than its Parisian counterpart because of its geographic separation (in northern Britany), Les Vieilles Charrues will welcome nonetheless headline acts who doesn’t need to win their spurs, like Muse, Christine and the Queens or the Prodigy. Furthermore, those festivals can also be a springboard for new artists.
About classic music, France is also full of festivals. The Besançon music festival, taking place in September, is one of the biggest, offering piano, violin, orchestra concerts, etc.
Finally, about jazz music, the yardstick festival is for sure the Nice Jazz Festival. It is the first jazz festival having been created in the world, starting from 1948. It is also the most important jazz festival in France, with its 38 00 participants last year, who rushed to see and hear C2C, Ben Harper or George Benson.

The underlining of culture in every shape and form
Theater is also the object of many festivals. The most well-known theater festival is for sure the Avignon festival: most important theatrical and live entertainment event of France, and one of the biggest in the world in terms of the number of creations and of gathered spectators. Come next the Chorégies d’Orange, oldest French festival created in 1869.
Same about dance, of which we can name the Royaumont festival in the iles de France region, mixing classic dance and music in a renewed or revisited repertory.
At last, what could be more typical of France than gastronomy? Each year, many events are organized, about oenology included. The wine festival of Saguenay in july and “Les Grandes Tablées” of Saumur Champigny in august are part of those events.
