For the 30th edition of the event established in 1982 by Jack Lang, then French Minister of Culture, Alliance Française de Kampala brought together 30 artists. Before an audience of over 1500 people, all styles of music followed each other on the stage decorated by designer Xenson.
La Fête de la Musique is a festival that celebrates all kinds of music by all kinds of musicians (children, adults, amateurs and professionals). Created in France on 21 June 1982 to celebrate the first day of summer, La Fête de la Musique has been celebrated since then every year in more than 100 countries. Evidence indeed that music knows no boundaries
The main objective of this event is not only to attract musicians of all genres on the same platform, but t also to encourage peace and friendship among people, exchange experiences between upcoming and renowned musicians as well as mutual appreciation of artistic values from the different cultures.
From 5:00 pm, and after a storm that well refreshed the atmosphere, the musicians succeeded each other every 15 minutes in the pure spirit of the music festival, amateurs and professionals put their energies and love into the success of this edition.
Everything was live and the audience appreciated the music of Mr. Poa or that of “quartiers des Stars Congolaises”, the World Music of Suzan Kerunen, Tamba or that of Soul Beat Africa, the jazz of Mickaël Ouma, traditional music of Percussion Discussion Africa, the voice and dance of Rachel Magoola, Tshilla, Ife ... not to mention artists as expected Azzion Aziz, Joel Sebunjo, Miss Naty Naty Miss International and our Star Maurice Kirya ... So many others go unmentioned but highly appreciated, indeed they were fantastic
In short, after more than eight hours of full live music the audience was left so satisfied already giving us an appointment for the next edition. Lots of congratulations to all those artists who came to play for free, for the happiness of being together at Alliance Française de Kampala.
